On November 4th, the “Seeing AI” salon, part of the TEDx Heping Park “Qu Shui Liu Shang” series, was successfully held at the Zhi Tower on the west bank of the Xuhui Binjiang in Shanghai. Four distinguished guests delivered insightful presentations covering various fields of artificial intelligence, including art, design, architecture, and healthcare. The event provided attendees with a deeper understanding of the applications and impact of AI.
Jojo Yue Zhou, a pioneering artist and fashion designer, began her talk with the thought-provoking question, “When a designer meets AI, is it an enemy or a friend?” She explored the potential collaborations between AI and designers and shared her conceptual AI collaboration project, Project A, created in partnership with aolab. Through this exploration, she concluded that the essence of AI is a sophisticated imitator driven by data. However, in fields like design and aesthetics—areas that are inherently emotional and subjective—the experience, intuition, and personal background of human designers play an irreplaceable role, influencing the outcomes and creative process in ways AI cannot fully replicate.
